The HUNTER GATHERERS Hiking Trail is an unforgettable 4 day experience that takes you back in time. We guide you along this beautiful coastline, across massive sand dunes, along endless beaches and marine rich rocky shoreline where we explore with you, the ways, habits and legacies of the Stone age  beach people.

ITINERARY: (Summary)

DAY 1

Arrive Sandpiper Centre at Boggomsbaai afternoon of arrival . We accompany you to an overnight tented camp at Vleesbaai. Here we will brief you on the programme ahead.

Food packs will be handed out and that evening you will make your own camp fire, prepare your own meals and marvel at the skies and the special silence of the dunes.

DAY 2

Up early prepare your own breakfast and lunch packs for the day with your guide who will be in your company for the next few days. Tidy camp and set off across massive sand dunes to view the ancient fish traps of the beach dwellers.
Meander and explore along the edge of the sea, visit several middens and stone age workshops and arrive back in Vleesbaai camp late afternoon.. Wash up and prepare your own dinner and braai..

DAY 3

Early rise and breakfast preparation. Roll up your sleeping bag and light luggage and set off for Boggomsbaai with our guide. Route varies dependending on capacity of group.
Arrive Pondokkie camp at Boggomsbaai, drop off luggage and sleeping bags and set of along the coast in an easterly direction to marvel at unspoilt beaches and more stone age and Khoi San activity areas, Return to pondokkie late afternoon and prepare dinner in your own lapa. Play the drums and bring your own guitar.

DAY 4

Prepare breakfast and lunch packs. We transport you to Gourits river where you will spend the day on kayaks and on the river bank, catching your own fish. We supply equipment. Return to pondokkie late afternoon for preparation of your dinner around the fire.

DAY 5

After breakfast, clean up and pack up camp.
